The girl frees the butterfly from moment Concept of freedom

The South West region warmly invites you to this year’s National Assembly for a time of prayer, reflection and sharing.  It will be a blessing for all of us to be together again as a wider community in person after the last 3 years.

This Jubilee year ending on 31st July 2022 our Ignatian family around the world are celebrating 500 years of St Ignatius’s conversion, thus based on the rich material from World CLC day which centres on our founder’s wondrous journey we will be incorporating this into our theme.  It will be a time to consider our own conversions and faith journeys as a community – what do our cannonball moments look like?

As part of our weekend, we are introducing a public celebration of commitment.  This will enable anyone who feels that they have reached the point, on their CLC journey, that they would like to make either a Temporary or Permanent commitment, as suggested in The CLC Charism Part 1, Guidelines for CLC Formation (para.197):

“By bearing witness before CLC, those making a commitment ask the Lord for the grace that they may give their generous response to His fidelity. By doing so in front of the whole community, they are asking for its help: that the community may accompany them on their journey. The external expression of this internal offering gives it a sacramental character.”

The CLC Charism Part 1, Guidelines for CLC Formation (para.197)

The National Assembly is an annual weekend gathering for the Christian Life Community in England and Wales. It is an opportunity:

  • to meet CLC members and enjoy a wider sense of community
  • to learn more about Ignatian spirituality and the CLC way of life
  • to gain a broader perspective of CLC nationally and worldwide
  • for listening, private prayer, reflection and small group sharing
  • for communal prayer and Mass
  • an opportunity for some members to make a permanent commitment to CLC
  • to relax, with social time and entertainment
  • to enjoy full board and lodging at a reasonable price in beautiful surroundings.

The Assembly is open to all CLC members and anyone interested in CLC and Ignatian spirituality.

“The wound Ignatius suffered in Pamplona was not so much a happy ending, but rather a happy beginning. Conversion consists sometimes of great moments of change, but it is also a never-ending process. We need to put Christ in the centre every time, again and again.”

Fr. Arturo Sosa SJ. General of the Jesuits

We are delighted to share that the cost for the whole weekend will be £50, for day delegates the cost is £25. We do not want cost to prevent people from coming. If you are a CLC member and need financial help, please contact Julia Lane in confidence treasurer@clcew.org.uk or 01926 497331.
