Since 2024, an International Commission has been guiding a global CLC process to review and renew our General Principles and General Norms. These documents are our foundational framework, setting out how we as CLC members live out in daily life ignatian spirituality communal discernment and service of others. The first phase of consultation offered rich insights from communities worldwide, and this feedback shaped the First Draft of the General Principles which is now being shared for further reflection.

In early 2026, the Commission met in Manresa, Spain to prepare this draft and refine the review process. The next stage includes a second consultation, carried out in two parts: first focusing on the General Principles, then on the General Norms. An additional round of consultation in 2027 will help shape the final text to be presented at the 2028 World Assembly.

This journey is understood as a deeply Ignatian process rooted in listening — to the Lord and to one another. Communities are invited to approach the work with openness, vulnerability, and Ignatian indifference, seeking together the version of the text that best expresses our shared charism.

The goal of this phase is simple: to refine the First Draft through communal discernment, ensuring that the revised documents help CLC remain faithful to its mission and united in diversity. To support the process CLC in England and Wales are holding an online session on Saturday 16th May 10:00-11:30 to present the draft, outline the changes proposed and to gather any feedback.
