‘Just prior to the National Assembly in 2022, I was diagnosed to have suffered heart failure. Over the past year this has been checked and monitored but is still persisting. As a result I will be retiring as President after the National Assembly. Please, in all of our regions, will all members prayerfully consider who would be suitable to embrace the role of President and discuss with them whether they are willing to be nominated for the role. As the National Assembly is only a little over two months away please make this a priority.’

The role of President is usually a four year term of office. Please will every member consider whether you, or someone you know, may be being called by Our Lord to this task. Please note this is a Trustee role, meaning that you are registered as a Trustee on the Charity Commission Register. Any necessary training will be provided, the National Team is very supportive and all expenses are paid. If you wish to find out more, please contact Alan Smith.

A past National President, on learning that their predecessor was retiring, said to a CLC friend: “Oh no! I said ‘no’ last time the vacancy came up but this time I suppose I shall have to pray about it.” The friend replied thoughtfully: “I think you will enjoy it.” And that proved to be true…

(If you don’t feel called to be President but fancy joining the National Team, we have a number of vacancies…)
